Quick report
We saw increasing consolidation of new snow, and small cracks as we made kick turns. At same elevation earlier in the day, snow was not consolidating, but as it warmed, by 12:30 p.m. it was starting to consolidate and feel "slabby." Snow was deeper in the area below Roosevelt than it was at the Snow Lake Divide (maybe 10" versus 6"). We transitioned at a bench just over 5,000 and decided not to continue with our plan to complete the Chair Peak Circumnavigation due to warming, small avalanche(s), and poor visibility.
Avalanche
At least one small avalanche was observed, which to our party appeared to be new based on the recent snow coverage and their softness, on the ascent from Snow Lake in the direction of Mt. Roosevelt as we approached Chair Peak Lake.
