Honestly a pretty bumpy and funky day on the south side of Snoqualmie. Around 3 to 4 inches of wet dense snow at 3100 ft. Drier snow by 4400'. At 4500' the freezing rain crust was approx 25cm down. Actively snowing after 1:00 p.m. Crust layer got less significant as we ascended. Pretty wet pasty snow, at 5400' clearing maybe 8 in of F to 4F hardness over wet grains that were not quite an ice lens yet. Clear evidence of inversion with stronger ice lens down low and less prominent ice lens but certainly wet grains up higher. 200 ft above the clearing got more of a planar interface on a rocky ridge with shallower snow. Got cracking on kick turns at 2 interfaces, one down to the crust and one in interstorm. Ascended to the summit of Snoqualmie. Sun peaked out for a bit around 130pm. Peered into the Slot but opted to not descend it due to concern of poor cohesion of the new snow to the ice interface below. Phantom Trees could really use more snow. Skiing down was very bumpy and not very enjoyable. Plenty of twigs and holes still poking out. No huge rock hits but still shallow.
