Stability assessed through travel techniques, hand pits, and ongoing observation. Snow was generally soft but capped by a supportive crust in many areas. Harder, wind-affected snow encountered near ~5,600 ft. Travel Style (Cautious vs. Aggressive) Numerous terrain traps encountered on both ascent and descent. Cautious and conservative. Route stayed east of the treed ridge above ~5,000 ft to avoid leeward, wind-loaded slopes consistent with Moderate danger. Sustained trail-breaking with frequent rotation. Overall Impression of Stability Very stable snowpack overall, with a supportive crust on top providing good travel conditions. Despite overall stability, terrain traps, cornices, and wind-affected snow near the ridge required conservative route selection. Stability was managed through careful terrain choices and an early turnaround.
