For most of the day the snowpack was stable and with good snow, as soon as we arrive to the upper elevation (Hannegan pass) we start seeing signs some rapid changes related to the wind effect. Even then the slope was very variable, some shallow areas with less wind effect and some others with a lot of transportation. We observed a lot of wind transportation on the ridges above us. We had a conversation about “how to travel” in this terrain just few minutes before the incident. We start traveling one person a the time, looking for “safe spots”.
