Quick report
We got an early start at 5am towards cascade pass to try and avoid the worst of the warming on Sunday. We were able to start skinning at 3200 feet. The basin leading up to cascade pass was full of avalanche debris that made for challenging but not impossible skinning and skiing. I dug a small pit at 4800ft, west aspect. The refreeze Saturday night was only superficial at this elevation, and beneath the 4-6 inches of fresh and wind deposited snow was a soft crust and then feet of wet heavy snow. Bond between new snow and crust was good. We continued over cascade pass where we found strong winds ~25mph. We dropped into pelton basin, and it was much calmer. We skinned up to the cache col, and found up to 10 inches of nice snow sitting on top of a soft crust or any debris. Very windy on the cache col and cache glacier (~40mph gusts). We did not find much in the way of wind slabs except somewhat expectedly right beneath the col, however this was not reactive. skiing was better than expected all the way out! The wind and the clouds reduced the warming so that we were not concerned with wet avalanches while making our decent.
Avalanche
Lots of debris from previous week, and possibly some slightly more recent activity from early in the weekend. Almost all North aspects seem to have slid, while some of the southern aspects seem to have held onto their snow.
