Snowpack

We hiked up  Becker Ridge to make snowpack observations today.  The south side of the ridge was mostly all dirt and we were on trail for the majority of the hike to Becker Peak.  On the northerly side of the ridge we found a very shallow snowpack with around 4'' of snow at 8200'.  The snowpack was made up of firm rain crusts and weak faceted snow.  Most terrain in this area did not have consistent snow coverage across slopes with many anchors (rocks, bushes, down wood) poking up through the shallow snowpack.
