Powderhouse

I climbed in a t-shirt and wished I had on shorts and flip-flops. It was warm. Pretty sure there mosquitos at the summit. Snow from the 9400 foot summit down to about 8500 feet skied ok; below that, it was challenging mank. Boot penetration just after 10:00am at 8300' was nearly to the ground. My route was almost entirely sub 30 degrees but I checked out the edge of the bowl and threw multiple snowballs down onto the steeper slopes below. Most of the snowballs I threw became rollerballs that grew as they rolled down the slope. The extent to which they grew depended mostly on the terrain, but it seemed that if the slope below was steep for a long distance, these rollerballs would grow into large, wet loose slides.

I chose this location partly because I was curious if any large wet loose slides had occurred on the steep south facing parts of the bowl. I could see tons of previous small roller ball activity on those slopes but I didn't see evidence of large wet loose slides.

There's a decent amount of water showing on Grass Lake and it looks as if a snowshoer might have gone for a dip. 

I didn't venture onto steeper terrain myself, but throwing snowballs onto steeper terrain started multiple rollerballs that occasionally grew to about 3 feet in diameter. On one occassion the rollerballs started a small but clear fan shaped loose wet slide that ran a short distance before the slope angle decreased.
