Quick report
AIARE 1 course; toured up to Tamarack Lake and observed conditions in North Trees off of the SE ridge of Proletariat. Observed up to 9,000 feet, N and NW terrain. Weak snowpack structure but fun facet skiing on low angle north aspects. Lots of wind transport observed at ridgetop between 1000 and 1430. Test pit results revealed that well developed depth hoar is still in play, albeit stubborn. We got CT24SC and ECTP27 at the top of 10cm of these advanced basal facets where they interface with smaller facets above them. Height of snow was 75cm in our pit location on the south side of Tamarack, NNW facing at 8,800'. Boot penetration in this extremely weak snowpack (consisting of angular facets of varying sizes) was nearly to the ground at 65cm.
