Quick report
Booted up ~1,800' from the Bass Creek trailhead till we were able to get skis on at 5,500'. From there, found gradually increasing fresh light powder, up to around 4" in protected areas, over a boot-supportive but edge-able bed surface from last weekend's warmup. Skinning conditions were tough with or without ski crampons (wouldn't grab in the crust) and we passed through a few pockets of minor windslab and scouring. We intended to ski the Presidential Couloir but the first few hundred feet were less than inspiring - no powder remained and it was just an edge-able crust - and we weren't sure if the choke was still in, so due to time constraints we decided to head back via the Little St Joe's bowl and the ridge exit. The four inches of powder on the crust skied well for the first 500' and then we found sporadic catchy sections that made things less fun. Survival skied back down to 5,500' and then booted back down to the car. To restate the obvious: the snowpack is nowhere near transitioned.
Avalanche
Lots of avy debris was piled up on the north slopes of Crown Point and the Bass Creek Crags, including one full-depth avalanche, potentially on a rock slab.
