The persistent slab (midpack facets) was still propagating in some of our pits (3-4 out of 7) on North facing slopes around 8000’. Our HS ranged from 120-160cm across various pits. There was a very weak layer of funky buried (rimed?) surface hoar under the storm snow, but the storm snow on top was not cohesive enough yet to be reactive. Once the snow becomes a slab it could be interesting! South facing slopes at 8000’ had a stout crust below the storm snow. We observed about a half dozen collapses on S & W aspects at 8000’. Winds picked up from the S in the afternoon with moderate snow transport. We had collapsing (a half dozen or so) on S & W aspects around 8000’.

Overcast, lifting a few times throughout the day. Temps just below freezing with moderate winds out of the S.
Snowpack
Reactive buried surface hoar (? rimed?) under storm snow in CT tests, just interesting for now until the snow on top turns into a slab. We dug a lot of pits and had variable results, propagation in a few pits on the mid pack persistent layer. HS varied from 120-160 in various snow pits on N facing slopes at 8000’.
