Quick report

Went on an exploratory mission to climb and ski Mineral Hill. Starting out temperatures were above freezing. Snow lines are highly dependent on aspect, but we started skinning at about 6000 feet. Winds picked up at about 7500 feet, substantially dropping the temperature. Snow conditions changed here as well, turning from soft/edgeable snow to hard frozen crust. We skiied the south/southwest aspect from the summit. First 1k feet was icy survival skiing, but the remaining 1500 feet was pleasant corn. No new snow observed, snow packed seemed locked in, conditions felt like spring. Substantial cornices on eastern aspects at high elevation.

Avalanche

Wet slides from previous warming cycle on Friday on southern aspects.
