Quick report
It feels like mid winter in the broot. I toured up to the summit ridge of LJ yesterday under full sun until a layer of high clouds came in, which were much welcomed as I planned to ski a south facing run off the top- the prez. No signs of instability on my ascent, and the wind was blowing moderately on the ridge top. Other peaks around showed the scouring and loading from the predominant W/SW winds. I had a good look around the alpine and didn’t see any naturals, just a few point releases on solars. I didn’t dig at all, I felt comfortable with my knowledge of the pack as I have been tracking it since early in the year. The prez skied great, albeit with some warm mashed taters-esque feel for the first 1500’. I was getting pinwheels going with my turns but nothing more. Once I dropped below where the sun shines the skiing greatly improved, and I was blown away when I spooked three mountain goats- two big’ns and a little’n- near the bottom of the gully from their feeding zone mid gully! Neature. The bush out the bottom was moderate and doable.
