Quick report
Toured from Marshall to Blue Point. Moderate West winds at mid/upper elevations with 25-30 mph gusts at upper elevations on exposed ridge lines. Wind gusts picked up towards the evening (7:30pm) 35-40 mph from the West. Consistent light snowfall from about 4pm to 6:30pm. Ski pen ranged from 10 cm to over 30 cm depending on elevation. Dug a pit on a SE aspect at 6,707 on a 26 degree slope. HS = 180 cm, HP = 120 cm (ntg). Observation wall showed three distinct interfaces, knife hard melt-freeze crusts: 1st interface 30 cm down, 2nd interface 40 cm down, 3rd interface 45cm down. Pit results: -Roughly 25 cm of new snow fell on first crust layer, unconsolidated -ECTN13, breaking on first interface -ECTN17, breaking on second interface Wind and new snow will continue to be something to consider when making decisions about where to travel in the backcountry.
