Obscured skies and light winds gusting moderate from the southeast delivered frozen precipitation that melted on contact. Needle forms observed falling at 5300ft.
Snowpack
We observed an unreactive snowpack with variable surfaces and small, stubborn wind slabs on wind loaded aspects of Maggie's ridgeline. The winds have shifted and the small amount of snow that is available for transport is being reverse loaded on northern and western slopes from southern aspects where much of the new snow was wind loaded earlier this week. Wind protected areas still held soft snow but that snow became heavier as we descended the ridge. We saw wet loose debris on steep road cuts at the end of our day, around 4pm. The depth of our snowpack remains lower than average - early season obstacles are still a travel hazard.
