Quick report
No new avalanches along the route since the slab reported on 3/6. Today there were morning clouds, that sometimes dipped below summit level, kept the sun off the snow until noon. Winds were low below 8,000', but above that they were 20 mph AM and 30 mph PM. The east aspect of Monitor Ridge at 7400-7500 feet has become much steeper (30-45 degrees) from a mass of wind-transported snow that has built on the lee side of the ridge during and after the last storm. There were no footprints in it this morning so it was clear that the snow was recently moved. There was a 4-6 inch thick soft crust over snow soft enough that my snowshoes sunk in 2-3 feet. The crust was eager to slide into my tracks from the edges. This aspect was the only area that I saw with this feature. No shooting cracks or other signs on instability. By afternoon, 30 mph SSW winds above 8,000 feet were scouring snow off the rim and stripping a thin fragile crust off the softer snow beneath.
