Quick report
In the AM, the surface snow was cold and soft but was sitting on the stout EFC. By midday any snow exposed to sun (at our elevations) had become wet, but skied pretty well; basically thin wet schmoo on top of very supportable surface. Some snow that stayed shaded was still cool and skied more like old, cold snow. After returning to trailhead, we saw numerous wet loose slides off of the south faces of upper peaks.

Clear in the morning, increasing clouds to broken by afternoon. Lots of sunshine. Air temp was just above freezing. No wind experienced.
Snowpack
Stout crust (EFC) just below 2-5" of new snow. We saw no wind transport at all during the day.
