Quick report
Travelled up to Lake Valhalla in the afternoon and then up the SE face of Mount McCausland. With only about an inch of new snow down low, we had variable snow conditions below 5000’ with refrozen water from the tree canopy, wind slab, and surface crusts. Creek crossing tree bridges are still snow covered but be careful. Any exposed rock showed signs of wet loose activity. With easterly flow, we were surprised to find the best snow quality on the SE face of McCausland, but this zone may have been protected by Lichtenberg with only weak heating from any morning sun. Wind loading was easily visible on any exposed west aspect and wind crusts were stout on ridge lines.

Large roller balls and wet loose activity shedding off the W and SW sides of Lichtenberg above Lake Valhalla, but visible on any with exposed rock.
