Quick report

Cracking
isolated

Very cloudy with poor visibility and flat lighting all day, other than a few small breaks in the clouds midday. We skied the N slopes of chair peak and the cache couloir. The S-facing chute up to the ridge was scoured, and the N slopes had a surprising amount of wind loading, even further down. We saw a small wind slab triggered by a skier on a convexity. A few parties had skied the cache before us, but it seemed more protected from the wind effect and we didn’t notice much evidence of wind transport in the couloir.

Avalanche

Small wind slab that a skier triggered earlier today on a rolling convexity on the N slopes below chair peak. It was ~6 inches deep and 20 ft wide
