Taking advantage of the last few days before avalanche danger rises, we ventured into bigger terrain today. The top 4-6" of facets comprising the surface of the snowpack were very sensitive. On each run an initial slope cut would sluff off the top several inches of facets. Several of these entrained significant snow and ran up to 500 vertical feet.

Adjacent to where we skied was a medium-sized wet avalanche on an east southeast slope.
