Three brothers

Morning snow in the tree line was nice and fluffy. Once in the sun, snow was wet and heavy. We were accumulating like ten pounds of snow on our feet. Lots of surface hoar. Breaking trail felt like walking through quick sand in the alpine. Saw some cornices on the west (see photo). Got to the ridge and had had enough of the slow going slog and went back about noon. On the way back ran into tons of groups walking in our tracks. Not sure if they had an easier time because they weren't trail breaking or if it was worse as temperatures were rising. Back to the car around 2:30pm. Overall a beautiful day but the snow was not the best.
