Quick Observation

We were pleasantly surprised with the stability at tree line since the avalanche forecast was high for today in many regions. At 2060m, 76 degs East CT16 with a 32 cm windslab on a rounded snow surface with no propagation. Air temp was -4 and the wind was a howling, guessing gusts of over 75km/hr as would knock you over! we dug two pits and both had the same results. The snow pack was 305 cm and the 2m below the rounded snow surface result was a uniform hard dense snowpack with no prominent layers and we did not dig right to ground.
