Quick Observation

Good powder in the trees below Ursus Major. Snowing S1-S2 non-stop all day with light winds from the S-SW going to moderate at ridgetops (Balu Pass). Natural cycling in STS couloir (NE): Sz 2 dry loose that ran 100m and 50m wide from nearby cliffs with start zone at 1800-1900m. Ran on HST. We observed a thin, breakable sun crust on aspects ranging S-W at TL and probably in the ALP, formed before the storm. By the end of the day, the storm snow was forming soft slabs judging from the minor cracking right by my skis at Balu Pass on the lee slope. No instabilities were observed in the Cougar Valley for the time being.
