Today we snowmobiled at the Onion and found very similar conditions to what we have been seeing all week; up to 10cm of new snow over the rain crust from March 22nd. At higher elevations the crust is supportive to skis and sleds and isn’t bad skiing/riding conditions. We saw a few new size 1.5 avalanches from steep, alpine terrain below cornices. We had no significant results when digging at 1650m on a N aspect. We took the opportunity to do some transceiver rescue practice!
