Quick Observation

Nice day for a walk in the babines. Good overnight temp recovery allowed for great conditions throughout the mid part of the range. Widespread powder(5-10cm) was found above tree line, with surface hoar forming on all aspects (~1cm). Weather was generally calm, and cool, expect above 2000m where we had gusting winds (50-60km/hr) from the west. Some loading during gusts on east aspects above 2000m was observed. Most south facing slopes below rocky cliffs had roller balls below 2000m from Thursday’s warm up. However the day did not get warm enough to prompt anymore (thank you cloud scattered cloud and breeze!) Observed evidence of a size 2 slab avalanche on a steep SES at 2000m. Suspect it was trigged by cornice fall from above. Also some loose wet point releases in steep terrain ran surprisingly far. (Size 1).
