A wander up Signal for some elusive sunshine found us walking on a below threshold snowpack. Snow depth at sheltered tree line was about 30cm. 2000m and higher we heard a few whumphs below a soft breakable crust midway down. Wind exposed areas had only 10cm of snow left. Today there was no wind and surface hoar was growing right up to ridgecrest.
