Snowpack

George and I found melting snow dripping out of the trees like rain on south aspects and widespread wet surface snow, but no new evidence of loose wet avalanche problems. Thin surface crust on south aspect at 5700'. On the ridgeline we observed evidence of natural cornice collapse from yesterday. On NE aspect 6,200' we found the surface to be well preserved grapple with surface hoar. In our pit test we found multiple interfaces within this week's soft storm snow, but most notably we saw propagation potential in weak grains just below the December 7th rain crust (ECTP17@67cm). We found the December 7th crust intact on the south aspect at 6,000', but it did not show propagation potential in our tests at that location.
