Quick report
Buenos dias Flathead Valley! Cody Townsend here chiming in from a wonderful day of filming my next YouTube video in the scenic Middle Fork of the Flathead, ticking off one of the classic ski lines in Glacier Country, the iconic Rescue Creek alder bash. The copious amount of mustache deep powder had Bjarne gasping for air. But me? I was floating on my Salomon MTN 169s (sponsored by Salomon). Unfortunately, visibility was poor for filming, but excellent for preserving the recent storm snow, which was suprisingly stable and elicited zero whumpfing, cracking, or collapsing on any of the aspects we skied. As the day progressed, the new snow continued to stack up. As we enjoyed a smooth glass of Tincup Whiskey (sponsored by Tincup Whiskey) at the roadside pullout, my only question was, “Where to go tomorrow?”
Avalanche
- Few small crowns from recent storm slab failure on steep terrain near the top of lines skied. - 2-3 glide cracks at the top of exit run (E facing).
