Quick report
Toured up W Henderson today. Winds were ripping from the NW-SW, gusting in the high 30s, if not higher. I was nearly blown off my feet a few times. The little amount of snow available for transport was blown onto leeward slopes. Good visibility showed many dramatically wind stripped slopes across the range. We did not note any cracking or collapsing. From the top of the ridge, we had great views of a large persistent slab avalanche that broke approximately 250' wide and ran 500' on East Henderson Bench. It appears to have been snowmobile triggered from below the day previously (12-13-25, 11AM). The avalanche broke on a heavily wind loaded slope on old snow at the ground with crown heights maxing out at ~ 5-6' deep. On the way down at 3pm, solar aspects at lower elevations had developed a bit of a donut glaze sheen from the warm temperatures.
