Quick report

Cracking
isolated

Overall snow surfaces were soft with a combination of recrystallized facets and a bit of new snow. The sky was obscured most of the day and it was snowing moderately hard as we left. We observed wind loading on an east facing slope near Sunlight Basin. We were able to trigger a crack in a small wind drift on the leeward side of the Sunlight Basin ridge.

Snowpack

There are lots of facets in the snowpack, although they are were not reactive in our snowpit tests. We saw well developed surface hoar growing on several snow surfaces.
