Quick report

Today we went to Lionhead.
Overall the snowpack is shallow (~two feet in mid elevations) and rocks are still a problem.

We dug a pit on the top of Ski Hill and got an ECTP12 at facet layer near the bottom. To our surprise those facets were moist and the entire snowpack close to isothermal. A bit higher up on a north facing slope, we also got an ECTP15 on the same facet layer, but no signs of wetness in the snowpack. In both pits we found an one inch ice layer near the surface. Trees were covered in the same ice layer. It must have rained at least up to ~8800ft during this past warm storm.

The snow is melting/moist in southern aspects up to ~8700ft.

The Lionhead loop road has good coverage. There are trees down low, but there are good options to get around them.
