Buck Ridge

Today, we enjoyed some of yesterday's new snow (5-7") on Buck Ridge. 
We didn't see any signs of instability such as cracking and collapsing or recent avalanches. 
Our ECTs showed no propagation on the near surface facets (ECTN14 and ECTN16). 
On southerly aspects, the new snow fell onto a 2" crust. 

We dug in a shallow, north facing area where we found the most unstable conditions: Our ECT resulted in propagation near the bottom on depth hoar (4-12mm, ECTP16). We tested that weak layer with a Propagation Saw Test resulting in a PST 50/100(End). We didn't find this structure on other northerly slopes. Therefore, we believe spots with such unstable snowpack structures are isolated. 

The weather was sunny calm today.
