- <p>I was able to find the faceted PWL on a NW aspect and did get propagation on an ECT (pictured). Good news is that the crust on top is very stout and supportable, the bad news is what this layer may do if melt water reaches it in the future.</p>
Snowpack
Most of the southerly aspects are struggling with the bases of trees showing ground and route finding proving tough to keep the skis on at lower elevations. Westerly slopes are solid crust with little to no new snow left that seemed to be deposited on the easterly side of the compass. No wind slab found on any aspect (some cornice formation noted on drive up the canyon, but may be old), just soft pockets of wind-blown snow that were welcomed underfoot compared to the hard crust everywhere else. A thin wind skin topped the new snow from the other day in the places where it had been blown in. The crusts at the top of the snow pack are stout and very supportable.
