Quick report
Dust on crust, powder on chowder, cold gravy on mashed potatoes... whatever you want to call it, the current skiing conditions will keep you on your toes. The fresh snow and sub-freezing temperatures have left us with one to two inches of powder resting on a widespread melt-freeze crust up to at least 9,300 feet. This new snow accumulated on a variety of refrozen surfaces that makes it difficult to create consistent turns. Pair the aforementioned with low visibility and the backcountry travels become quite technical. Light to moderate southwest winds were transporting small amounts of snow. The deepest drifts encountered were 10 inches deep and on the lee side of the most protected tree wells. I did not observe any recent avalanches, shooting cracks, collapsing, or whoompfing.

Light snow and graupel showers with low visibility prevailed throughout the day. Snow accumulations are about 1-2 inches in below and near treeline terrain. Southwest wind was light with a rare gust in the moderate range.
