Crappy day for skiing. Great day for looking around. We've had a productive avalanche cycle in Central Glacier Park this week. Installed the Isaac Walton/Essex beacon checker this afternoon. Thanks Flathead Nordic Backcountry Patrol! Poor refreeze recently and unseasonably warm temps have resulted in a productive avalanche cycle with wet slabs on PWL and loose wet activity. Forecast verified.

Hat Trick in the McDonald Valley today. Impressive slides on Stanton, Vaught, and Cannon. Triggered by the January thaw, most avalanches released as slabs at upper elevations and ran long distances as wet debris. Some slides gouged our entire snowpack to the ground.
