Quick report
Went up Sub Shields with an exploratory mindset and to ski powder. Initially skied conservative, low angled treed slopes from the summit ridge, but eventually stepped out into east facing open bowl terrain. We did this gradually, avoiding steep rollovers and convexoties. Experienced and witnessed zero avy activity. Outside of a couple small sluff avalanches, didn’t see any recent avalanche activity from the summit area. Snow depth near the summit was around 120 cm. Insanely rightside up snowpack that skied like a dream. Little to no signs of wind transport. Even the summit ridge cornices were very soft and unconsolidated. Overall, super impressed to not see any signs/activity and to ski this storm on a pinner weather day.
