40cm of new snow. Found the Valentine crust facets down 100cm. Weak sugary snow above and below the crust. Total depth 250cm. Compression test result was CT18 down 100cm sudden planar that failed on the Valentine's crust. Poor structure was easy to identify by probing and using hand hardness in a test pit. Snow was good, but stability was sketchy, so we rode in the trees and avoided convexities and steep connected terrain. Weather was overcast, calm and snowing.
