Quick report
Walked up Cardiff Fork today for a look, did not see evidence of a natural avalanche cycle, but the visibility was not that great for seeing the terrain in upper Cardiff ( cardiac bowl, cardiac ridge, LSB), from Ivory Flakes. We did experience some healthy collapsing throughout the day on lower angle terrain, E and NE facing. Seems like everything needs a bit more weight to pull out naturally, but the gun seems to be cocked and just needs a trigger or more weight to fire. Stuck to the low angle again today and probably will continue this way until the slab relaxes or we get enough weight to tip the scales. Back in waiting mode, seems to be the rule with this seasons multi-layered snow pack. Photos, Freezing drizzle on goggles makes seeing rocks difficult, The graupel that capped of the new light density snow, spindrift and graupel water falls coming off the Reed and Benson ridge line. Not a real good day for photos.
I would say its still considerable on high E through NW, Moderate at lower elevations and the south end of the compass.
Snowpack
The new snow today was ever changing, started out this morning with some big fat stellars falling from the sky, a bit later on it turned to graupel, and then came the freezing drizzle, forming a delicate zipper crust, and icing up the goggles.
