The key problem we saw was wind slab issues at upper elevations, probably breaking on the 3/29 layer. We did not see evidence on instability on the 3/20 layer. We did not observe any evidence of persistent slab instabilities (ECTX at 9500ft on north aspect) but there was lots of wind slabs and cross loaded slopes that were breaking off and propagating about 6-8” deep. One slide entrained the entire upper entrance (lookers right) of chute the moon. We also had wind slab break off in Chuter Buck, and chose to retreat up and out.

Snowpack
We found a lot of wind slab on n aspects above 9000 ft, generally failing 6-8” deep, and planar shears in hand pits; but stable conditions when there was not wind slab (ectx at 9500ft on n facing aspect). Below ~9000 ft there was no evidence of wind slabs and excellent skiing out avalanche canyon. Wet little wet slide activity on south aspects.
