Quick report

Collapsing
Observed

In this part of the range, it seems that the deep HN has insulated the warm snowpack beneath, keeping it sloppy and weak. The sorts of wet loose you expect at these lower altitudes this time of year. More notably, though, was the moist and unconsolidated nature of the lower snowpack in shaded aspects up to 9400 feet. Even with last night's cold temps, the snowpack did not refreeze beneath the HN. Occasional hip-deep ski pen, occasional small collapses. All in moist, "bottomless" snow beneath cold, dry powder snow. Might we see some other weird behavior in the narrow westside deep band?
