Cracking and collapsing was observed in the new snow on some slopes and not others (not widespread). It was most common in wind affected and shaded terrain.

New snow totals in Mail Cabin were around 1 foot (30cm) this morning. Windy conditions above 8,000’. Several more inches had accumulated by 3pm.

We observed several small (D1) soft slabs that released in steep, sheltered terrain below 8,000’ (see attached events). I didn’t observe any obvious avalanche activity in steep terrain above 8,000’ like Cave Bowl.
