Snowpack

The upper half of the snowpack is right-side up. There was about 6-8 inches of soft, recent snow on top of a firm, supportive slab. Further investigation into the snowpack (both a formal profile and informal obs) revealed faceted grains below that slab everywhere we looked (multiple aspects and elevations). In general, there seems to be a widespread persistent slab avalanche problem that could likely produce up to a D3 avalanche.
