Observation 1 (2200 ft, S aspects): At ~2200 ft on south-facing aspects, we observed widespread collapsing accompanied by shooting cracks propagating up to 20 ft through willow-covered terrain. Observation 2 (4470 ft, E aspect): At ~4470 ft on an east-facing aspect, hand pits and ETCN indicated a pencil-hard crust buried 6–12 inches below the surface, overlain by fist-to-finger hardness snow. Faceted grains were present beneath the crust. Observation 3 (Solar effect): Afternoon solar radiation was actively affecting south-facing slopes below ~2000 ft, with noticeable surface warming.
