Quick report
With AAS rec level 1 course. This observation is based off of a tour that went to Sunburst and two groups that went to Tincan. General notes: Obscured skies, less than 1cm/hour of precipitation. Flat light, light north wind with no gusting. Norrsell & Hall pit: At Sunburst we dug just under 2000' on a North aspect on a 20degree slope. Our test results were CT 26 Q3 D 30cm ECTX We saw what we thought was the valentine day surface hoar layer 65cm down but were unable to see any crystals at this location. Thorndike pit #1: We dug test pits in Tincan Trees on a west aspect at 1800 feet on a 25* slope. We found the valentines surface hoar buried intact 65cm down. CT 19 Q2 D 28 cm CT 25 Q1 D 65 cm (valentines day surface hoar) ECTX Winkler pit #2: We dug pits at 1950 on Tincan on a 28 NW slope. We observed the Valentines day surface hoar but it was unreactive in our tests.
