We were heading out for a low angle day away from any and all avi terrain. Lots of snowpack collapsing as we traveled out in the morning with cracks splitting out up to 5' from us. By the days end the snowpack had melted considerably, matched with rollerballs all over the lower elevations of Nevahbe's east face. Weather deteriorated as the day progressed with increasing cloud cover and increasing winds out of the SW. Small precip hit us in the form of drizzly rain, but seemed to stick only to the crest and looked really minor. We dug into the snowpack on a NE aspect at 8000' and we were surprised to find 12cm of a surface crust layer below 62 cm of new snow (HS 74cm). We thought that maybe there would be no snow below the new snow at this elevation, but alas! Anyways we got some fun results in our snowpack tests on this crust layer. CT4 at that crust layer which led us to explore the extended column and we got ETCP6 at that 12cm crust layer... full propagation baby! Kept us sticking to our plan. Be safe out there!
