Quick report
We had the June Lake BC, at least from the resort, all to ourselves today. What a treat. Toured over to Carson Bowl. Had the normal wind affect to San Joaquin saddle and over to Carson. We were pleasantly surprised with good snow in the bowl just past the choke in the gut. I'd like to apply elevations and aspects to the good snow vs. windboard vs. breakable. But a lot of it just depends on how the wind interacted with the terrain you're in. Had bits of good pow turns, with firm wind board to the best version of a breakable crust you could have from 11,200' to 8,000'. No signs of instability. Light winds from the SW with grauple starting around 1pm. Not much accumulation. Mostly cloudy day with the sun peeking through the clouds with that nice greenhouse effect. The one thing I would really note was at 8,000' the snow turned from the variable wind type, to a nice dense, heavy, wetter, grabby snow. The type that makes you feel like your wax was totally inappropriate. Still, no signs of instability there. Just more heads up skiing than the rest of the snow in other elevations.
