Early morning tour up mean peak. Snow was stable BTL, NTL some cracking on wind loaded slopes. No other instability noted. Below 8000’ snow was light and unaffected by the wind. Around 8500-9000 wind effect was strong along the SE finger of mean peak having exposed rock. Coverage was good with a distinct crust layer between 30-40cm down up to 8500’. Crust unobserved after 8500’ due to wind stripping on the south face. Wind loading is very strong with lots of snow for transport. Wind slabs forming NTL and ATL on the leaward slopes. Off the top soft wind slabs were present. After the first 200-300’ down soft knee to waist deep skiing. Weather was partially clear with cloud cover on the Sierra crest, 9500’ wind was between 30-50 mph. Below freezing temperatures the entire tour. New snow 7000’ to 8500’ 40cm. Above 8500’ unobserved.
