Snowpack

Instability Comment

New wind slabs sensitive to the weight of a skier or rider are developing along ridge crests and in exposed terrain on the lee sides of terrain features on slopes with a NE-NW aspect.

The weight of newly developed wind slabs has the potential to affect the deeper persistent slabs that are over riding weak, faceted snow. Also, a slide triggered within the new snow has the potential to step down into these persistent slabs on upper elevation NE-NW aspects.

Not much accumulation today but plenty of snow available for transport. New wind slabs forming along ridge tops and in exposed terrain.
