- Poor Snowpack Structure
Went up Mt. Aire from the north ridge. At the north summit, we dug a quick and dirty pit (~8:14 AM) above the fall line (NE, est 35 degrees, 8500ft) and performed an ECT with ECTP23 failing ~6" above ground on facets with sudden planar fracture characteristic. Snow depth is very shallow, and so a slide could break to ground.

- <p>Variable snow depth along the approach ridgeline with east/northeast faces feeling pretty punchy with pole probing. Bottom 6-7 inches facets (F). Snowpack is very shallow and shows evidence of diurnal faceting in some locations throughout the snowpack due to clear cold nights with warmer, sunny days.</p>
