S/SW aspects in Kokanee Bowl skied really well today. Snow was a somewhat wet-feeling powder, and boot-pen was 10-15cm above 2,000m. To get to Kokanee we also crossed W, NW, and N aspects, all of which were heavily wind affected. The thickest wind slab we could find was only about 10cm thick, and it sat on top of 10-30cm of very sugary decomposing fragment crystals. The thin slab was extremely stiff and breakable, just terrible skiing... Snow condition and coverage deteriorated significantly below 2,000m, and the snow felt very wet around 1,800m. We saw a lot of small surface hoar on the walk out in that elevation band as well, some up to 5mm on the cat road.
