Quick Observation
Skinned into Gorman to escape the crowds and tracks of the national parks and we were rewarded. There is a low volume of ski or sled traffic in the area. A couple of skin tracks on both sides of the valley before the lake but it was easy to find new lines. It seems that many of the slide paths went with the last big storm but most debris is now covered and there is no evidence of recent avalanche activity since then. Consistent light snow all day and wind heading east down the valley is forming some thin (but growing) wind crust that is developing into a bit of a slab. Snow is very good where it hasn't been wind affected. Probed about 70cm in the protected valley bottom trees at 1950m.
